SIMPLE BEAUTY

A weathered looking but new wicker basket
holds a bouquet of
delightful shades of purple & soft whites.

A simply beautiful pairing...

I found these lovelies
~ also known as Sea Lavender ~
at the grocery store -$4.00 for a bouquet
& was inspired by the shades of purple
and their simple blooms

In charming wicker
they are perfect
for a farmhouse table

On a
french chair

or
adorning chippy old cupboard doors.
The peeling paint is a perfect shabby backdrop to the dainty purple flowers

Statice flowers make me think of wonderful
days at the beach...

smelling the fresh air,
digging my toes in the warm sand,
listening to the waves on the shore

so
inspiring

and
simply beautiful.

Farmhouse table tutorial coming your way~
As soon as I get a break in the weather for a few photos...
will be sharing the how-to.
Hope your week is off to a great start!

1~2~3 LITTLE GALVANIZED BUCKETS

3 little buckets of rosemary...

I loved these galvanized buckets...
and brought 3 of them home.
They are from Ikea

I am loving numbers and monograms right now
so thought I would add a little something to these charmers.

Kinda loving them on the steps...

Do you have plans for the long weekend?
Hosting a BBQ? Heading to the beach? Staying at home and relaxing...
or maybe staying at home and working on projects?
:)
I'm working on projects ~
have a safe weekend everyone!

FEATHERED NEST FRIDAY

Don't you love a good thrift store?
When you wander in and find a treasure trove
of oh so fabulous junque?

Where you can get your antiquing fix for just a few dollars on occasion?
A good thrift store is always a fun spot to shop.
Since finding out that my favorite little flea has closed
scouring the thrift stores for treasures
will have to do for now.

I have seen these shoe forms all over the blogs and in books
and they really are charming in person.
The wood has such a great patina & I was excited to find a matching pair.

The gorgeous glass door knobs caught my eye originally when I found this...
but there are nearly a dozen old door lock hardware pieces,
several brass keyhole pieces as well as random old painted chipping hardware
in this big baggie of architectural junque.
Love the old look of these just sitting in the tray.

I think this little treasure is pewter.
I am little monogram looney
so when I find something etched with monograms~
it's safe to say I am probably in love.
The crest is fantastic too.

I have been having a
not so secret love affair
with old tarnished silver for awhile now.

I am always looking out for pieces here and there.
I picked up a few pieces of flatware for .25 cents each

and these old footed trays.

I have a couple ideas for them already...
Have you found any great thrifting finds lately?

~

Here are a few links from last weeks party
It was filled with so much inspiration~
and I am perusing through them even now!

*Update*
I wanted to mention that Blogger has been having comment issues
for a few days... I don't know much more about it
but I know that a lot of people have not been able to leave comments
on posts but my friend Tricia of A Rosy Note has this advice~
For anyone who is having commenting problems, try this...when you are logging in to Blogger uncheck the little box that says "stay signed in." I did this and all is well now.
Hope it helps you too.
Thanks Tricia!
*Also issues with FOLLOWING blogs has been popping up.*
Sometimes the FOLLOW box in the sidebar
shows up, sometimes it doesn't.
You can 'follow' at the top of my blog above my header
there should be a spot to click 'Follow' there as well
and that should work until Blogger fixes it.

A FAVORITE FLEA

Remember that favorite flea market I always talk about going
to in June and again in September?

The one where I found those charming piano sides...

and the huge old roses oil painting...
and the perfect frame for it a few rows away?

& this delightful little french clock?

I have been getting so excited for sifting through
space after space of treasures...
the old boxes,
bargains galore,
and the thrill of coming across that perfect fantastic find!

Such a favorite market every year~
My friend Lydia and I have been going together since we bumped
into each other at the flea when our daughters were in 1st grade.

We bring our girls with us and they search for their treasures too~
junkers in the making!

It's nearly June so we were making our plans for the day~
Get up early, grab a Starbucks and get on the road to 'The Flea'...
or maybe not...

While looking for the day this year...
I found out that they closed it.

:(

The property where they always held it is going to be developed and
the Lions Club decided to close it down rather than look for a new spot to host it

Aye...
Really the best the little flea market around run by the cutest little Lions Club guys...
we looked forward to perusing all the goods every time it came around.
I am hoping they decide to relocate it
and SOON!!
Missing it already!

I guess it's back to the thrifts for now...

See you later today for
Feathered Nest Friday!

RUFFLES. RUFFLES. RUFFLES.

Don't you love a little ruffle?
Layer upon layer upon layer of dreamy fabric
falling softly towards the floor
bringing shabby softness.
They are romantic.
Vintage & charming

They are not something I would incorporate in every room or space
but a bit of a ruffled on pillows or bedding or on a table is charming.

I have been looking for a ruffled shower curtain
for my vintage toile bathroom...

I found the perfect something that was
soft, white, and layered with ruffle after ruffle...
A drapery panel that is $19.99 at Target.

I have always used drapery panels as my shower curtain because
drapes are longer which allows me to place the curtain up higher
than it would be with a standard shower curtain.

Rod pocket panels slide easily over standard tension rods
and also gives the curtain a 'cleaner' look than using shower hooks.
(I use two tension rods for the shower-
one for the liner and one for the curtain.)

The sweet ruffled panel fits in perfectly with my
vintage inspired bathroom.

RUSTIC FARMHOUSE TABLE

Inside an old barn
hidden over in a corner &
piled high with old wooden bins & boxes of treasures...

A sweet old farmhouse table waits.

Waits to be re- discovered...

Waits to be dusted off & brought outside...

Waits for the laughter of friends as they gather together to break bread
around it's old chippy tabletop.

I love old antique rustic farmhouse tables.
With layered wood plank tops they have so much charm.
Love their shabby antique patina and their wonderful imperfect character.

This sweet farmhouse table is a recent addition to the patio...
but it isn't an antique with years of stories to tell...

The boys made this delightful table for me
for Mothers Day.

I wanted a large table for the patio
with old character, lot's of charm
and shabby sweetness.

Cullan and I went to the hardware store, picked up all the supplies
and the boys and I got to work.

It is made out of pine and is over 9 ft long~
With chunky 4x4 legs all shabbied and
a layered french gray & white painted finish.
It's not finished yet ~ I'll share a tutorial and the finished table soon~
but it's so charming already.
Pairs perfectly with the frenchy bistro chairs from the Kmart makeover
and the sweet little lavender plants marching down the table
are perfect with the white.

I am loving it!

(Cullan says he is available for hire if anyone is interested...)
:)

I edited my photos by using an antique variation as well as fading the colors.

FEATHERED NEST FRIDAY

I love geraniums...
in pretty pinks, bold reds, salmon colors and soft whites..
I love them.
I plant both upright and ivy geraniums in my window boxes on the house
and in planters through out the yard.
In hanging baskets and little clay pots...
gorgeous.
They always bring such a burst of pretty color and leafy texture.

This red geranium looks quite at home on the sideboard don't you think?

Some of the plants came inside with the cold and snow this week but have
all made their way back outside into the warm sunshine today.
(Must be time for a sideboard redesign again)

Either lots of allergies or a bug sidelined me a bit this week
so I haven't gotten too much feathering done around my nest to share with you
but I do have a bunch of projects on the ever growing list to get started
or finished that I hope to be sharing soon.
:)
