A sweet bouquet of pale green
& barely blushing soft pink roses
inspired a few changes on the bedroom mantel
This charming little dog is a favorite thrift store find
A couple dainty preserved boxwood topiaries in clay pots
The vintage china plates had been set aside to be sold
but the colors work really well in the bedroom and so I brought a few of them in.
The fireside chairs from the living room switched places with
my favorite antique French needlepoint chairs.

A vintage mirror replaced the red floral painting that was here
Another thrift store find~ originally, the frame was a bright gold color
But with a couple coats of chalk paint
it is now a shabby taupe white with French Linen showing through.

It has some smudging, scratches & mottling damage to the mirror but that doesn't bother me
it just adds to the character
We are getting ready for a little family get-together & graduation celebration coming up this weekend
so I am working on the menu and decoration ideas today

ReplyDeleteGorgeous Courtney. Once again, you and The French Country Cottage bring a few moments of calm beauty to my manic days. Question please~ What is the "best" way to hang antique dishes? My husband does not like it when I am constantly banging nails in my walls. Is there something less invasive? Adrian Xo

Oh my aching heart! It is absolutely stunning. You must be the best thrift store shopper EVER. When I go to thrift stores, all I can seem to find are bell-bottomed pants and chairs that smell like my great aunt :(.
ReplyDeleteI loved it !
ReplyDeleteYou have really been sprucing up your nest lately, Courtney! Everything is so pretty. Oh, I grabbed your pretty photo of the flowers on your kitchen counter. I am going to paint one of my minis using your photo as an inspiration! I will probably place a pitcher behind them, though.

Could you give the specifics of how you did the mirror? I have one I want to do and am ready to try it. What color chalk paint? What do you mean about the linen showing through? Is that a different color that you did first? Please post a blog with the details for all of us to be able to do our mirrors too!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel is beautiful. I love the green and white. You have a wonderful way of decorating your home.
