Thrift Store Treasures

Yes,
I have been out thrifting again...

It all started when I stopped in at the local Re-Store in search of something for a project
I didn't find that piece I needed but oh the treasures in that store!
Building salvage, antiques, furniture...
It definitely got my junking juices going!

So I have started popping in at the thrifts here and there again
in search of vintage treasures.
One of the things I always keep an eye out for are pretty dishes.

They don't have to be a full set, it can be just a few pieces
a teacup and saucer or even just a platter and they don't have to be perfect.
I love to mix and match patterns in a tablescape.

These dishes were stacked up on a shelf together
Lots of little plates, a couple dinner sized plates and 6 teacups & saucers.
They are oh so dainty, edged in scallops and a touch of gold
a simple delicate raised pattern on the edges & purple & lavender flowers vining along
So charming and just $19.00 for the set.

They are stamped Carlsbad Austria very lightly on the backs
but I don't know much else about them

The lavender and white together are such a soft romantic combination
and with a bit of silver -it inspired a little lunch table setting

I was surprised to find a couple of bouquets of Stock the other day-
I haven't seen any there in awhile.
They were a perfect compliment to the dishes

 These weren't the only treasures I found~
I did pick up a couple other things and will be sharing those shortly.
Have you found any great finds recently?

Outdoor Drop Cloth Panels

We love to be outdoors and to entertain outside
and start enjoying the outoors as soon as we can be in the Spring and stay outside
all the way until it starts snowing.

We recently finished that big old rock fireplace that is in a newer outdoor entertaining area of our yard.
It's a covered patio~ that we designed so that we had an area that was sheltered from the
hot hot hot Summer sun and that would keep us dry when it rained ~
I love the new covered structure~ which I will share more of very soon~
but it's framing is somewhat  'manly' so to speak  with chunky wood 'legs' and lines.

I wanted to make those chunky lines a bit softer.
A bit more like a living space and more inviting.
So I turned to Lowes and one of my favorites to work with to do that.

It's no secret that I love drop cloths.
I love their oatmeal color, their nubby texture and their fantastic price.
I picked up a couple of my favorites at Lowes and decided to sew some long outdoor drapery panels.

One of my favorite things about drop cloths is that you can get them in different sizes
I found one that was the right length and that had enough width
to make the panels that I needed for the new area.

Simple & easy and such a difference in the feeling of the 'room'.
I love how they turned out and with the fireplace for when it gets a little chilly
we can close the drapes and keep more of the warmth in

I am in process of changing a few things out here and finishing up a couple others
and it's not quite ready for the full reveal yet- so stay tuned.

Busy busy getting ready for a little party in a few weeks and one of the things
I will be doing is serving dinner outside-
which means some cleaning is in order.
So I was excited that
Proctor and Gamble
sent outdoor cleaning supplies to the Lowes Creative Ideas network members.
I have to admit...
I was most excited to see the magic erasers.

Is it crazy to get excited about a cleaning product?  ;)
Magic Erasers are one of my favorites to use in the kitchen and bathrooms
and this one is for outside.  I already tried them out on the bistro chairs and table for a quick wipe down
and they did a fantastic job getting that dirt cleaned up. Next up~the grill!

Proctor and Gamble and Lowes are also giving away a set of these products-
which are sold exclusively at Lowes-
so that you can try them out for yourself!

Just be a follower and leave a comment on this post
and you will be entered to win!

Happy Saturday!!

White Dishes ~ Inspirations

I have been scouring flea markets and thrift stores,
keeping an eye out at Ross, Target and Home Goods
all in search of something
so plain and simple but so beautiful.

Darling, dainty, charming
white dishes.

I have had white dinner dishes for years that we use everyday.
When a few pieces break, I just go pick up another inexpensive box of them~
so easy to mix and match.
I love collections of white ware with various sized pitchers, bowls, plates and platters
grouped together on a shelf or displayed in a hutch~so a few of those have been in my collection
as well.

I do have a white cake pedestal... a couple of serving bowls and platters...
but I think a couple more would be fantastic.
*sigh*
The obsession continues.

I am not alone in obsession and love of white ware...
I love these inspiration photos~ most
of which I found on Pinterest.

 With the green pears... delicious!

Really loving the yellow cupboards with the white here~ so charming.
Of course, white with dark stained wood

or with antique painted furniture

or in a glossy black cupboard...

 delightful.

Absolutely love pitchers and tureens.

Probably a favorite look is white dishes against a white or light background.
I just adore the simplicity of the combination.

Though Red Transferware is one of my favorite patterns to decorate with,
I have switched the red transfer ware plates and platters for whites for the Summer
in the breakfast nook.

As well, the open shelves have gotten a more serene look for Summer recently
with stacks of white plates, dainty white coffee cups and serving bowls.

Atop that chippy cupboard are several white pitchers as well.

So many of you have emailed asking about the sheep print in the picture above
and I wanted to share a special private sale code with you if any of you are interested
 in ordering it

Romantic Table Setting

A little pale blue with pale pink roses
such a soft and inspiring combination

With a couple of dainty white dishes
vintage silverware
 my grandmothers etched glassware
& a couple of candles~
I love it's simple charm.

I had some fun taking photos for this tablescape
I am trying to learn a bit more about the different settings and using my tripod
I probably take 150 photos to get 8 that I like for my blog posts lol ;)

These pretty pale pink roses are my daughters and are part of her birthday bouquet
 with balloons and presents.

She let me 'borrow' them for a few photos  ;)
and for creating a charming centerpiece in a recycled pickle jar
Just perfect for a simple and sweet impromptu outdoor table setting

We are in the middle of several projects out in the little cottage right now that are taking
up a fair amount of time  - which doesn't leave as much room for blogging projects
but I have been working on a couple burlap creations and
I'll be sharing more about them and the dent that we are
 (hopefully! lol!)
making in the little cottage project soon.

Happy Monday Everyone!!

Burlap & Blooms

What do you get when you pair a petite bouquet of pale pink pretties,
a little lavender and a burlap sack?

Something a little charming.
something that's a little rustic
and that's a little sweet.

I picked up these pretty in pink roses at Safeway
not knowing just where I would put them yet...
but I just loved their pale blushing color and tiny blooms.

When I got home, I thought of those coffee sacks...those ones from Burlap Fabric...
I am loving them and wanted to use them for another project so...
I got out my sewing machine and a few minutes later
a little burlap sack
with a faded green stripe appeared.

I set a mason jar inside the sack for a little bit of water for the flowers
and placed it on the wall with a small bouquet of roses
with a little bit of lavender mixed in.

Then I thought...
two would be twice as nice.

I love the rustic texture and look of the burlap sack
with the soft, sweet charm of the flowers.

A quick little project
but I am loving how it turned out

Almost forgot!
