About Me

 What to say about
 me...

I'm  Courtney
and I am a
day dreaming girl...

who has grown up into a
mother

I'm a daughter
 and a sister.
and a granddaughter

I am a stay at home mom to three
 incredible
 &
 inspiring
(and goofy!)
 kids
I have a passion for  Interior design and decorating
and now that my babies are older
I am beginning to pursue that part of my dreams.

French Country Cottage
is my blog inspired by my own little
 French Country Cottage
An old neglected vacation house when we found it-
it's taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to make it a home

 I  love construction
and even have my very own 'baby' set of power tools
so that I could put siding and cedar shake shingles
up on our guest cottage one weekend.
(yep, I can get a little wild and crazy)
;)
I love  creating something from nothing or re-imagining a forgotten treasure in a new way.
I love beautiful elegant pieces with comfortable warm and rustic accents.

An old weathered wood  table with polished silver &  monogrammed china
A gilded louis chair upholstered in burlap and draped with a beautiful faux fur throw
a gorgeous French armoire with elegant lines and details and covered in chipping paint...
The mix of the rustic and the elegant is perfection to me.

You can contact me at

"The greatest achievement was at first and for a time a dream.
The oak sleeps in the acorn; the bird waits in the egg;
and in the highest vision of the soul a waking angel stirs.
Dreams are the seedlings of realities."

I just returned from an incredible opportunity to live/work in Angers, France, for 6 months--it was a dream come true that I was able to share w/ my twin daughters. Your blog inspires me to recreate a little bit of France here in the Lone Star State :)

  18. May I just say, how beautiful and creative your style is, and how lovely your home. It is absolutely inspired. I love everything about it, and I love the warmth that emanates from everything you have done in your home.

You, and a few other very talented people that I am following online, are inspiring me to bring this magic into my home too... It took a while to convince my husband, but now I can move forward and I will not look back :)

I just wanted to say thank you for sharing this beauty and creativity with the world, and that I have become your newest fan :)

Looking forward to seeing more of your magic.

    With kindest regards,
    Laura

  19. Hi Courtney!!
For years I always tried to explain what kind of decoration I loved. People always said it was Country. So for years I bought anything to do with country decorating, but, never really felt that that is what I was all about.

Until recently, meaning in the last few years, I have found that it was always "Cottage" designs that I love. Especially after going through a life changing experience, I feel I need to try to rebuild my life and Courtney you and your beautiful ideas are helping. The color pink has always been a calming color and I love how you use it. The roses are beautiful!!

So, thank you for your beautiful pictures and stories (Love the one about the Settee and your daughter is so funny).
